WE HANDLE EVERY DETAIL WITH OUR CUSTOM MADE AREA RUGS

The process starts by determining the type of design and colors required for the custom area rug. The interior designer will either forward a custom rug design for our art department to work on/interpret or discuss the idea with our artists. After the scaled color rendering is complete it is sent to the designer together with matched color poms for approval or for any changes that might have to be made. This is done as often as necessary until the design is approved. This presentation is highly professional and appealing to the client.

Hand chosen high quality yarn

Our mill uses only the finest top grade Tibetan wool yarns. These wool yarns are rich in lanolin with a silky and strong character. They are either hand carded or machine carded depending on the finished look our customer's desire.

In house artist at your service

Our art department is reputed to be the finest in the world and our artists have the expertise to interpret the requirements of our professional Interior Design customers for Custom woven rugs and custom Tibetan rugs.

Traditional production methods

Our tufted qualities are woven with a hand held shuttle gun and our hand knotted qualities are woven completely by hand. Both qualities are woven on the looms and worked on to shear and/or carve as required. All yarns are dyed prior to transferring the art work to the looms.

The final product - custom made

The washing process is also unique in that the rugs are gently washed in river water to clean, age and soften the rugs while preserving the rich colors. These hand knotted and tufted rugs are made in either all wool...or with silk or viscose.

WHAT OUR CLIENTS THINK

"Stirling Design Associates has had the pleasure of working with Custom Looms since 1988. Our studio then was five hours away and all our communications were by phone, fax and mail. The experience was wonderful. The clients were thrilled. Since then collaborations have gotten even better. How does that happen in the interior design business where so many things can go wrong? It doesn't hurt that we are now located close enough to do things in person. But the real reason, the only reason, is customer service. When you bring a project to Custom Looms there is a team awaiting you who not only knows what they are doing, but who listens to you and is willing to make your client their client too. When you are trying to describe your ideas in nuances, they will brainstorm for hours, days or weeks if necessary until they can show you a design that looks even better than the one that was in your head. Certainly they must be Zen Buddhists, because they never make you aware of the frustration you must be causing. That patience during the creative process allows great ideas to come forth. And most often we come to a solution in minutes or hours, not as just described.

But what happens when things 'go wrong?' This is the fear that keeps us all awake the night before a delivery. Because of Custom Looms longevity in this business and the thousands of varied experiences that go with that, there is a minimal percentage of 'go wrongs.' It probably won't happen to you. But, yes, it has happened to us; and we were amazed, but not surprised, how through it all Custom Looms was on our team and made sure all was corrected as painlessly as possible. "
